Manatee County Beach Patrol Named Beach Patrol of the Year
The Manatee County Beach Patrol has been recognized as Beach Patrol of the Year, earning statewide distinction for its commitment to safety, professionalism and lifesaving service along the Gulf Coast.
The honor highlights the agency’s work protecting residents and visitors on Anna Maria Island's beaches and throughout Manatee County. Beach Patrol personnel are responsible for safeguarding thousands of beachgoers each year, responding to water rescues, medical emergencies and public safety incidents.
The recognition reflects the team’s extensive training, quick response times and focus on prevention through public education. In addition to active lifeguarding duties, the patrol places strong emphasis on community outreach, ensuring beach visitors understand surf conditions, rip current risks and other potential hazards before entering the water.
Beach Patrol leadership credited the award to the dedication of its officers and support staff, noting that maintaining high safety standards requires constant preparation, teamwork and vigilance. The unit operates year-round, adjusting staffing levels to meet seasonal tourism demand and special-event needs.
Manatee County officials praised the Beach Patrol for its professionalism and lifesaving impact, noting the numerous preventive actions and successful rescues that often go unnoticed by the public. The award serves as a formal acknowledgment of the agency’s vital role in keeping Manatee County’s shoreline safe for families, visitors, and the local community.
