Manatee County Commission to Address Health Proclamations, Infrastructure Projects, and Youth Curfew Ordinance at August 5 Meeting
The Manatee County Board of County Commissioners will convene for its regular meeting on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at 9:00 a.m., with a full agenda covering public health recognitions, infrastructure funding, nonprofit agreements, and a proposed juvenile curfew ordinance.
The meeting will begin with an invocation by Pastor Andrew Heisler of First Baptist Church of Bradenton, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance led by Dr. Corey Stutte, Deputy County Administrator and Navy Reserve veteran.
Commissioners will recognize Charles Catob, IT Specialist in the Information Technology Department, as the August 2025 Team Member of the Month. In addition, summer interns will present their capstone projects to the board.
Three proclamations are expected to be adopted, designating the week of August 5 as National Health Center Week, declaring August as Overdose Awareness Month, and recognizing Women’s Equality Day.
The consent agenda includes a wide range of items related to community services, infrastructure, and public works:
Nonprofit funding agreements for adult daycare and home-delivered meals under the Alzheimer’s Disease Initiative and Community Care for the Elderly programs.
An amendment to the HOME-ARP Allocation Plan and qualification agreements for the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Urban County Program.
Execution of a Brownfield site rehabilitation agreement for a parcel located on 10th Lane East in Bradenton.
Purchase orders for new tables, carts, and chairs at the Bradenton Area Convention Center and a concession agreement with Aramark Sports and Entertainment Services.
A Guaranteed Maximum Price addendum for the Lena Road Stage II Gas Expansion Project (Phase III).
Acceptance of the county’s response to a state DOGE inquiry, and amendments to grant agreements related to Hurricane Ian and Nicole recovery efforts.
Permission to apply for a Community Planning Technical Assistance Grant from FloridaCommerce.
Resolutions related to property easements, public hearings, advertising agreements, and code enforcement fine reductions.
An update on interim temporary speed humps along 21st Avenue NW and a joint funding agreement with the U.S. Geological Survey.
During the regular agenda, commissioners will appoint four hoteliers to the Tourist Development Council, update federal grant administration systems, and execute a major grant agreement with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to implement the Community Development Block Grant–Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) Action Plan.
The board will also review and consider acceptance of the county’s new Vulnerability Assessment, which outlines risks and mitigation strategies for climate change and natural disasters.
In the final portion of the meeting, commissioners will discuss a proposed Manatee County Juvenile Curfew Ordinance under the Commissioner Agenda Items section. Additional citizen comments, legal updates, and board discussion will close the meeting.
