The Manatee County Board of County Commissioners is scheduled to convene for its regular meeting on April 21, 2026, beginning at 9:00 a.m., with a wide-ranging agenda that includes infrastructure funding, public safety investments, community programs, and policy discussions impacting residents countywide.
The meeting will open with standard proceedings, including the call to order, invocation, pledge of allegiance, and public comment opportunities, followed by agenda updates and a Port Authority session. Commissioners will also recognize several community milestones through proclamations, including the 100th anniversary of Cox Chevrolet and observances such as Autism Awareness Month, National Library Week, National Hospital Week, and National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week.
A significant portion of the meeting will focus on the consent agenda, during which commissioners are expected to consider a range of administrative and funding items. These include proposed legal settlements, budget amendment resolutions tied to infrastructure sales tax funding, and financial allocations for projects such as the Manatee County Area Transit onboard camera system, stormwater maintenance, and environmental monitoring programs. Additional agreements related to engineering services, utility system improvements, and property easements in Parrish and Palmetto are also slated for approval.
Public safety items include consideration of funding for a rip current simulator to support beach safety education, as well as an agreement connected to the 2025–2026 Suncoast Remake Learning Days initiative. Environmental and water resource planning will also be addressed through a cooperative funding agreement with the Southwest Florida Water Management District for the Lake Manatee Watershed Management Plan.
In the legislative portion of the agenda, commissioners will review proposed changes to the Infrastructure Sales Tax Project list and consider the renewal of Tampa General Hospital Aeromed’s certificate of public convenience and necessity.
Regular agenda items include discussion of a proposed civics education program for Manatee County Government, updates on federal disaster recovery funding through the Community Development Block Grant Disaster Recovery program, and continued use agreements for waterfront areas near Cortez Marina. A lease agreement involving the Palmetto Animal Shelter is also scheduled for consideration.
The meeting will conclude with several commissioner discussion items, including updates on animal shelter operations involving the Bishop facility, considerations regarding traffic regulations, and ongoing administrative matters such as the county administrator’s contract. Additional reports and public comment periods are also scheduled before adjournment.
Residents are encouraged to attend or follow the meeting to stay informed on decisions shaping Manatee County’s infrastructure, services, and long-term planning.
