Manatee County Commission to Consider Infrastructure, Housing, Public Safety, and Community Programs at October 7 Meeting
The Manatee County Board of County Commissioners will meet on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at 9 a.m. to review a wide range of items affecting infrastructure, housing, public safety, and community programs.
The meeting will open with an invocation by Pastor Luke Stockeland of First Baptist Church of Bradenton, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance led by Army veteran Sergeant Melissa Bomar. Commissioners will also recognize the October 2025 Team Member of the Month and present a proclamation for Southwest Florida Honor Flight Day.
The agenda includes more than 50 items, many of which are on the consent calendar. Notable items include amendments to the county administrator’s contract, participation in insulin pricing litigation, and legal action to recover damages from a county-owned water main incident. Affordable housing will be discussed, including termination of a prior land-use restriction agreement and approval of a new multifamily rental incentive program on Prospect Road.
Tourism promotion will be addressed with a reimbursement agreement for the 2026 and 2027 Bradenton Area RiverFest Regatta. Infrastructure remains a major focus, with items covering road and bridge projects, EMS and library facility expansions, and funding adjustments for hurricane-related debris services. The board will also consider a contract for the construction of the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office at Premier and a second-floor buildout at the Lakewood Ranch Library.
Environmental and public safety measures include grant agreements for Anna Maria Island shoreline protection, funding requests for AED purchases, and participation in the Florida Department of Health’s Mobile Integrated Health Model Communities Project. Several code enforcement fine reductions are also scheduled for review.
The consent agenda features resolutions related to emergency management funding, library services policies, transportation contracts, and utility projects. Public hearings include the proposed vacation of a right-of-way along Sawgrass Road in Palmetto.
Under regular business, commissioners will receive updates on federal disaster recovery grants and the Bradenton-Palmetto Connector study. Additional agenda items include a funding request for Meals on Wheels Plus, a discussion on regulating simulated gambling devices, and consideration of a sponsorship for the Marine Corps Ball.
The meeting will conclude with comments from the commissioner, attorney, and administrator.
