The Manatee County Board of County Commissioners is scheduled to meet on Tuesday, Oct. 6, with a proposed moratorium on data center development and discussion of the county administrator contract among the items on the revised agenda.
Commissioners are scheduled to consider Ordinance 26-42, which would establish a temporary moratorium affecting data centers, large-scale data centers and other large-load customers in unincorporated Manatee County.
The proposed ordinance would temporarily halt the submission and acceptance of applications for building permits, site plans, development orders, development agreements, special permit uses, rezonings and Comprehensive Plan amendments related to those uses.
However, the agenda indicates that consideration of the data center moratorium is expected to be continued until Thursday, Oct. 8, at 9 a.m., or as soon afterward as the item can be heard.
The Oct. 6 agenda also includes discussion of the county administrator contract under commissioner agenda items. The revised agenda does not provide additional details about the proposed contract discussion.
The meeting will include opportunities for citizen comments on potential future agenda items. Speakers are generally limited to three minutes during the designated citizen comment period.
Members of the public may attend the meeting in the Honorable Patricia M. Glass Chambers at the Manatee County Administration Building, 1112 Manatee Ave. W. in Bradenton. Walk-in comments are permitted, and residents also have options to submit written comments or participate by phone for eligible non-quasi-judicial matters.
The meeting can also be watched live through Manatee County’s website or on Manatee Government Access television channels.
