Manatee County Commission to Recognize Community Achievements, Advance Major Infrastructure Projects at May 6 Meeting
The Manatee County Board of County Commissioners will convene for a regular meeting on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at 9 a.m. in the Patricia M. Glass Chambers at the County Administration Building in downtown Bradenton. The meeting will be broadcast live on Manatee Government Access channels and streamed online for public viewing.
The agenda includes a mix of ceremonial recognitions, budget amendments, land use approvals, infrastructure investments, and key discussions on public safety and future development.
Three proclamations will open the meeting, recognizing May 12–16 as Economic Development Week, May 6 as IMG Academy Girls National Basketball Team Day, and May 12–18 as National Salvation Army Week in Manatee County.
Significant infrastructure and public works items dominate the consent agenda. Commissioners will vote on dozens of contracts and change orders, including updates to water treatment plants, force mains, stormwater systems, and major road projects such as the 75th Street West improvements and the 44th Avenue East extension over I-75. Budget amendments to support these projects are also up for approval.
In housing and development matters, the Board will review final plats for Crosswind Ranch Phase III and Young Estates, adopt resolutions approving over $76 million in combined multifamily and single-family housing bonds through the Housing Finance Authority, and approve a Land Use Restriction Agreement in Palmetto.
Commissioners will also consider establishing a new stormwater fee, updated traffic calming procedures, and a resolution supporting a state executive order to increase government efficiency.
Among public hearings, the Board will consider designating part of Buckeye Road as “Gold Star Families Memorial Highway” and review a site plan for a new public elementary school in the Artisan Lakes area of Parrish.
Additional items include the authorization to purchase land in Parrish and Lakewood Ranch for future public use and the continued discussion of how to regulate electric scooters and e-bikes in public spaces.
The meeting is open to the public, and comments on non-quasi-judicial matters will be accepted in person, online, and by phone. The full agenda and viewing details are available at www.mymanatee.org.
