Manatee County Commissioners to Address Grants, Infrastructure, and Public Safety at August 19 Meeting
The Manatee County Board of County Commissioners will hold its regular meeting on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at 9 a.m., with an agenda spanning environmental land acquisitions, infrastructure upgrades, public safety initiatives, and grant funding approvals.
The session will open with an invocation from Pastor Brock Patterson of Longboat Island Chapel and the Pledge of Allegiance led by Meghan Thorpe, a Senior Budget Analyst and Navy veteran. Following routine announcements, commissioners will convene as the Port Authority before moving into public comment on consent agenda items.
The consent agenda includes approval of neighborhood enhancement grant projects, termination of an Affordable Housing Advisory Committee member for attendance violations, multiple budget amendments, and a performance savings contract for methane gas management at the Lena Road Landfill. Other items cover waterline replacements, booster pump station upgrades, and continued improvements at the Lake Manatee Water Treatment Plant.
Environmental measures are prominent, with resolutions to update the Natural Resources Department fee schedule, approve Tree Trust Fund applications, and accept several property easements for utility and drainage purposes. The board will also consider accepting a warranty deed for the North Pine Island environmental lands candidate property and a donation valued at approximately $180,000 from the Braden River Soccer Club.
In the regular agenda, commissioners will hear an update on the Housing and Urban Development Community Development Block Grant – Disaster Recovery and the Lasting Manatee Program. Appointments to the Environmental Lands Management and Acquisition Committee will be made, and resolutions on opioid impact grant funding and the 2024 update to the Local Mitigation Strategy Plan are slated for adoption.
Commissioners will also discuss the “Reimagine Central Library” initiative before closing with comments from the county attorney, administrator, and board members.
The meeting will be held at the Manatee County Administrative Center, 1112 Manatee Avenue West, Bradenton, and is open to the public, with opportunities for citizen input.
