Manatee County Commissioners to Consider New School Site, Veteran Proclamations, and Housing Incentives at November 4 Meeting
The Manatee County Board of County Commissioners will hold its regular meeting on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. in the county administrative building in Bradenton. The session will begin with an invocation from Pastor Brent Spears of First Baptist Church of Palmetto, followed by a moment of silence honoring World War II veteran John Skeen and the Pledge of Allegiance.
The board’s agenda includes a full slate of recognitions and policy items. Commissioners will present the Team Member of the Month award and adopt proclamations celebrating Farm City Week, the 250th Anniversary of the U.S. Marine Corps, Operation Green Light for Veterans’ Week, and Veterans’ Day.
Several key items are on the consent agenda, including amendments to state grant agreements supporting programs for seniors through the Alzheimer’s Disease Initiative, Community Care for the Elderly, and Home Care for the Elderly. Commissioners will also review budget amendments, a new funding agreement with the Florida Department of Health and Sarasota County for children’s services, and contracts related to infrastructure and utility projects across multiple districts.
Among the advertised public hearings, the board will consider Resolution R-25-187, naming a 39-acre county-owned site at 27th Street East and 26th Street East in Bradenton as “Mixon Farms.” Another major item, Resolution R-25-202, concerns the proposed AAA High School site plan, which would allow construction of a 297,300-square-foot public high school on 85 acres north of State Road 70, near Rangeland Parkway and Post Boulevard.
Commissioners are also expected to review the 2026 meeting calendar, appoint members to the Government Efficiency Liaison Committee and the Children’s Services Advisory Board, and consider expanding the Emergency Vehicle Preemption project using existing Generational Impact funds.
Later in the meeting, the board will hear the annual report from START (Solutions To Avoid Red Tide) presented by Sandy Gilbert and Michelle Atkinson of Ag & Extension Services, highlighting recent efforts to improve water quality and public education.
Commissioners will also discuss potential updates to the Livable Manatee Affordable Housing Incentive Program, including proposed amendments to Resolution R-22-158 to expand local housing options.
The meeting is open to the public and will include opportunities for citizen comments. Full agenda materials and livestream access are available at www.mymanatee.org.
