The Manatee County Board of County Commissioners will hold its regular meeting on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, at 9 a.m. in the Patricia M. Glass Chambers at the Manatee County Administration Building, 1112 Manatee Avenue West in Bradenton.
The agenda includes several significant items involving environmental land preservation, animal services, infrastructure improvements, affordable housing financing, and county administration.
Commissioners will consider three proposed property purchases for environmental preservation. Two involve land designated for the Myakka Valley Preserve, formerly known as the Anson Road Properties, while a third involves the proposed Bunker Hill Preserve, previously identified as the Taylor Grade Road Property.
Animal services will also receive attention, including an update on the Bishop Animal Shelter and recommendations from the Animal Services Advisory Board. Commissioners will reconsider funding for permanent shade structures and discuss preserving the Lena Road property for future animal services use.
Another major discussion will focus on the county administrator’s contract. Commissioners are also scheduled to discuss SunTrail funding for the Manatee Avenue Trail Project’s development and environmental study.
The consent agenda includes proposed approvals for up to $112.9 million in multifamily housing revenue bonds for three developments: Flats at 5th, Palms at Manatee River, and Tuscany Lakes Apartments. Additional items address stormwater and transportation resilience grants, sewer and roadway improvements in Trailer Estates, utility infrastructure, and environmental restoration projects at Hidden Harbor Park and Robinson Preserve.
A public hearing will address proposed changes to the county’s Infrastructure Sales Tax Project and Equipment List, including removing five projects involving environmental preserves, boat ramps, sidewalks, and major road improvements.
Commissioners will also consider a proposed $550,000 settlement in favor of the county involving Duncan Seawall, Dock and Boat Lift, LLC.
The meeting will include recognition of Commissioner Jason Bearden for his service to Manatee County, along with several proclamations recognizing Veterans Day, Manufacturing Awareness Month, National Family Caregivers Month, National Friends of Libraries Week, Red Ribbon Week, and other observances.
