The Manatee County Board of County Commissioners is scheduled to hold its next regular meeting on Tuesday, June 2, beginning at 9 a.m., with a wide-ranging agenda that includes infrastructure projects, housing initiatives, economic development programs and discussions surrounding the Old Memphis Cemetery.
The meeting will begin with an invocation led by Reverend Brock Patterson of Longboat Island Chapel and the Pledge of Allegiance led by U.S. Coast Guard veteran Renee Medina. Commissioners will also recognize the county’s June 2026 Team Member of the Month and consider proclamations recognizing America’s upcoming 250th anniversary and Posttraumatic Stress Disorder Awareness Month.
Several consent agenda items focus on county infrastructure and public works projects. Commissioners are expected to consider change orders related to the 44th Avenue East expansion project and upgrades at the Lake Manatee Water Treatment Plant. Additional items include smoke testing and inflow and infiltration services for utilities infrastructure, as well as the purchase of Microsoft software subscriptions for county operations.
The board will also review resolutions tied to Infrastructure Sales Tax projects and budget amendments, including proposed updates to transportation project lists.
Environmental and recreational matters are also on the agenda. Commissioners are expected to review multiple West Coast Inland Navigation District grant applications, an amendment to the county’s adaptation plan agreement, and a mitigation bank purchase agreement connected to the Fort Hamer Bridge four-lane project.
In sports and leisure services, the board will consider an amendment to the interlocal agreement between Manatee County and the School District of Manatee County related to the community park at Martha B. King Middle School in Bradenton.
During the regular agenda portion of the meeting, commissioners are scheduled to discuss proposed projects and activities connected to the county’s fiscal year 2026-27 Housing and Urban Development Annual Action Plan. The board will also consider a reimbursement agreement involving the Lakewood Ranch Stewardship District for improvements at the University Parkway and Covenant Way roundabout.
Three commissioner agenda items are expected to draw attention, including discussions regarding the Old Memphis Cemetery desecration and cleanup efforts, as well as traffic concerns at Wood Fern Trail.
The meeting is open to the public and includes multiple opportunities for citizen comments throughout the day.
