Manatee County Commissioners to Tackle Infrastructure, Housing, and Public Safety in June 3 Meeting
The Manatee County Board of County Commissioners will convene for its regular meeting on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at the Honorable Patricia M. Glass Chambers in the County Administration Building. The agenda is packed with key items impacting everything from infrastructure and housing to environmental initiatives and public safety.
The meeting begins with ceremonial moments, including an invocation by Reverend Brock Patterson and the Pledge of Allegiance led by Army veteran George Knight. Recognitions will include the June 2025 Team Member of the Month and receiving a proclamation acknowledging Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) awareness.
Commissioners will announce the arrival of Manatee County Government’s 2025 summer interns and hear community input on the consent agenda.
Several legal matters are up for review, including proposed settlement decisions in two civil cases. Commissioners will also vote on the approval of FY 2024-2025 Neighborhood Enhancement Grant projects and budget resolutions related to the county’s infrastructure sales tax.
Major financial decisions include authorizing over $150 million in Tax Revenue Improvement Notes and issuing a $47 million bond for North River Charter Academy. Contracts related to energy plant upgrades, golf course management, and the FloodWise real-time forecasting system also await approval.
On the public works front, the board will decide on new traffic controls, including a multi-way stop at 39th Street East and 34th Avenue East, and review a status update on the 44th Avenue East Extension. Easement acceptances for utilities and drainage will cover multiple districts.
The public will also hear updates on code enforcement fine reductions, grant applications for emergency services and wildlife preservation, and a donation to the Island Library from the Friends of the Island Library, Inc.
In legislative matters, the board will vote on changes to retail animal sales regulations and the vacation of a right-of-way in Bradenton, accompanied by the acceptance of a permanent drainage easement.
Under regular business, commissioners will appoint members to the 2025 Value Adjustment Board and approve projects tied to federal HUD funds for the upcoming fiscal year. Two key construction projects—an animal community center and the Bishop Animal Shelter’s Phase II building—will be reviewed for budget adjustments and contractor agreements.
Public participation is welcome via walk-in comments, online submissions, or phone, with specific instructions provided on the county’s website. The whole meeting will be livestreamed and available on local government access channels.
