Manatee County Deputies Investigating Vandalism at Old Memphis Cemetery in Palmetto
The Manatee County Sheriff’s Office is actively investigating vandalism discovered at Old Memphis Cemetery, located at 202 25th St. W. in Palmetto.
Deputies reported finding damage to 17 gravesites throughout the cemetery. The vandalism included broken and overturned headstones, spray-painted gravesites and damaged concrete on several graves.
The incident sparked concern among residents and families with loved ones buried at the cemetery after images and video of the damage circulated on social media.
