Manatee County Encourages Residents to Customize Alert Manatee Emergency Notifications
Manatee County is reminding residents to sign up for Alert Manatee and customize their emergency notification preferences to receive important alerts in the way that works best for them.
The free emergency notification system allows users to select the types of alerts they want to receive, choose their preferred method of notification, and set quiet hours to limit non-emergency alerts during overnight hours.
County officials note that while many notifications can be customized, weather alerts issued by the National Weather Service follow different rules. Tornado warnings are considered life safety alerts and cannot be disabled or delayed, even during designated quiet hours.
Residents who are already enrolled in Alert Manatee are encouraged to review their notification settings periodically to ensure their contact information and alert preferences remain up to date.
Alert Manatee provides real-time emergency notifications to help keep the community informed during severe weather, public safety incidents, and other emergencies. Residents can sign up for the service or update their preferences by visiting mymanatee.org/alertmanatee.
