Manatee County Extends Burn Ban Amid Continued Drought Conditions
County officials have extended the existing burn ban due to dry, hot weather that continues to elevate the risk of wildfires across the region. The precautionary measure aims to protect residents, property, and natural resources during a prolonged period without significant rainfall.
Under the extended ban, most forms of open burning remain prohibited. However, several exceptions are still allowed:
Outdoor grills or cookers may be used if continuously attended by a responsible adult.
Agricultural, silvicultural, and land-clearing burns are permitted if approved by the Florida Forest Service and properly equipped with fire-suppression tools.
Public fireworks displays may proceed if fire-suppression personnel are present.
Flares discharged over the Gulf are not restricted.
Officials urge residents to remain vigilant and take personal responsibility to prevent accidental fires. The burn ban will stay in effect until sufficient rainfall returns to the area and the wildfire threat subsides.
