Manatee County Extends Burn Ban Emergency Through May 13 Amid Ongoing Fire Risk
Manatee County Administrator Charlie Bishop has extended the local state of emergency related to the countywide burn ban through 11:59 p.m. on May 13, 2025, citing continued fire danger and public safety concerns.
The extension, issued under the authority of Ordinance 24-82, allows for the continuation of emergency measures initially enacted to protect residents from heightened wildfire risks. The original declaration and related procedural waivers—first outlined in Resolution R-25-078 and extended by memo on April 29—remain in effect under this new memorandum.
The burn ban prohibits all outdoor burning that has not been expressly authorized by the Florida Forest Service and applies to residential and commercial properties. Local officials are urging residents to remain vigilant and comply with the ban to help prevent the outbreak of wildfires during the ongoing dry conditions.
The emergency order may be extended further, depending on environmental conditions and assessments made under the County’s Disaster Emergency Management Ordinance.
County officials continue to monitor weather patterns and fire risk levels, and updates will be posted on the official Manatee County website and emergency communications platforms.
