Manatee County Extends Burn Ban Through January 30
Manatee County has extended its countywide burn ban through Friday, January 30, at 11:59 p.m., citing ongoing weather and environmental conditions that significantly increase the risk of wildfires.
According to Manatee County Emergency Management, the ban remains in effect due to extremely dry conditions across the region. Dry soil and vegetation make it easier for fires to ignite and spread rapidly, even from small or unintentional sparks.
Low humidity, combined with windy conditions, further elevates fire danger, creating an environment where fires can quickly escalate into fast-moving wildfires. Officials emphasize that these conditions pose a serious threat to homes, neighborhoods, natural areas, and public safety.
County officials note that the burn ban is a preventative measure designed to protect residents, pets, property, and first responders. By reducing the risk of preventable fires, emergency crews are better able to remain available for other critical calls and emergencies throughout the community.
The county continues to share safety information through public outreach efforts, including messages from Emergency Management’s Pepper the Prepper Pup, reminding residents that the burn ban is focused on safety, not inconvenience.
Residents are encouraged to comply with the ban and avoid all outdoor burning during this period. Additional information about the burn ban and safety guidelines is available through Manatee County Emergency Management resources.
