Manatee County Football Teams Close August with Strong Performances
High school football teams across Manatee County wrapped up the week of August 30 with commanding wins, fierce rivalries, and tough battles that set the tone for the season ahead.
Parrish Community made a statement at home, shutting out Bayshore 40-0 in non-conference play. The Bulls’ defense stifled the Bruins throughout, while their offense controlled the game from start to finish.
Sarasota picked up a home win over Braden River, downing the Pirates 27-7 behind efficient drives and a relentless defensive effort.
Bradenton Christian continued its strong start, defeating Bell Creek Academy 37-6 on the road. The Panthers found their rhythm early and never let up.
IMG Academy, one of the nation’s premier programs, traveled to New Jersey on Thursday and toppled Winslow Township 35-14 in a non-conference matchup. The Ascenders spread the ball around offensively and handled the road challenge with ease.
Manatee claimed bragging rights in an in-town rivalry, defeating Southeast 42-14 at home. The Hurricanes’ explosive offense proved too much for the Seminoles to contain.
Palmetto impressed in a 42-20 victory over Newsome. The Tigers leaned on a powerful running game and timely defensive stands to secure the win.
Lakewood Ranch celebrated in front of its home crowd with a dominant 42-0 shutout of Seminole. The Mustangs showed balance on both sides of the ball in their most complete performance of the young season.
Saint Stephen’s Episcopal fought hard in a conference clash but fell 36-23 to Sarasota Christian. Despite a strong offensive showing, the Falcons couldn’t overcome key defensive lapses.
