Manatee County Gears Up for a Busy Week of Community Events, Civic Engagement, and Family Fun
Manatee County residents will have no shortage of ways to get involved, stay informed, and enjoy the arts during the week of February 2 through February 9, 2026. From county government meetings and city-hosted gatherings to family-friendly festivals, races, and live performances, the calendar reflects the community's energy and diversity.
The week begins with civic engagement opportunities led by the local government. On Monday, February 2, residents are invited to attend the February Town Hall with Commissioner Mike McCann from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Lakewood Ranch Library. The event provides constituents with an opportunity to receive updates, ask questions, and share concerns directly with county leadership.
Transportation and infrastructure planning will also be in focus this week. Manatee County is hosting public information opportunities related to a major roadway project, with an in-person open house scheduled for Tuesday, February 3, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Manatee County Fairgrounds Veterans Hall in Palmetto. An online option is available on Thursday, February 5, from 6 to 7 p.m., featuring a project video and a live question-and-answer session. These sessions allow residents to review plans, learn about timelines, and provide feedback on projects shaping the county’s future.
Family-friendly events dominate Saturday, February 7, with activities happening across the county. At Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota, the 15th Annual Bridge A Life Superhero 5K and Fun Run gets underway at 8:30 a.m. The event raises awareness of foster care and invites participants of all ages to dress as their favorite superheroes while raising funds for children and families in need.
In Palmetto, downtown streets will fill with classic cars, modern vehicles, and community spirit during the inaugural Palmetto Main Street Motor Fest from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event is open to all vehicles, features food trucks, raffles, vendors, and trophies, and benefits Feeding Empty Little Tummies. Spectators are welcome to attend free of charge, while vehicle registration supports the cause.
Bradenton families can head to West Manatee Fire Rescue Station 1 for the WMFR Open House, also running from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event includes an optional sensory-safe hour from 10 to 11 a.m. designed for guests on the autism spectrum. Activities include fire engine and ladder truck tours, bounce houses, a kids’ combat challenge, face painting, live music, and free food, offering an educational and fun way to connect with first responders.
The arts lineup continues on Saturday, February 7, at 7:30 p.m. when the Manatee Performing Arts Center hosts a night of clean comedy featuring Fred Klett. Known for his relatable storytelling on family life, marriage, travel, and everyday adventures, Klett has earned more than 100 million online views and fans worldwide. The evening also includes a special opening performance by his son, Gus Klett, making it a family-friendly comedy event that adds a lively note to the week’s arts and culture calendar.
Rounding out the week, Manatee County leaders and business representatives will travel north for Manatee Day at the Capitol, taking place February 4 and 5 in Tallahassee. The annual event provides a platform for local officials, organizations, and businesses to meet directly with state legislators, share priorities, and advocate for issues important to the county’s future.
Together, these events highlight a week filled with opportunities to connect, celebrate, and participate in the civic and cultural life of Manatee County, reinforcing the strong sense of community that defines the region.
