Week 6 of the high school football season brought a mix of dominant victories, close finishes and tough road losses for Manatee County teams Friday night.
Palmetto delivered one of the biggest performances of the week, shutting out Parrish Community 52-0 in a district matchup. The victory improved the Tigers to 5-1, while Parrish Community fell to 0-6.
Manatee picked up a key road district victory, defeating Sumner 30-27. The Hurricanes improved to 4-2 after bouncing back from a narrow loss to Riverview the previous week.
Saint Stephen’s Episcopal also turned in a commanding performance on the road, defeating Marco Island Academy 62-0. The Falcons improved to 5-2.
IMG Academy remained unbeaten with a 56-7 victory over Legacy School of Sport Sciences. The Ascenders moved to 5-0 with the non-district win.
Several other Manatee County programs faced difficult matchups. Braden River suffered its first loss of the season as Cardinal Mooney defeated the Pirates 62-7. Braden River is now 4-1.
Bradenton Christian came up just short in a district contest against Sports Leadership & Management, falling 28-24. The Panthers dropped to 5-2.
Lakewood Ranch lost a district road game to North Port, 33-21. The Mustangs are now 2-4.
Bayshore fell to Wellen Park 38-26 in another district matchup. The Bruins moved to 3-3.
Southeast remained winless following a 56-33 road loss to Gadsden County. The Seminoles are now 0-5.
The Week 6 results included several district contests that could become increasingly important as teams move deeper into the second half of the regular season.
