High school football teams across Manatee County wrapped up the first week of September with a mix of triumphs and setbacks on the field.
Manatee High faced a tough challenge on the road, falling 42-7 to Lowndes in Valdosta, Georgia. Despite the loss, the Hurricanes gained valuable experience against one of the top programs in the Southeast.
Closer to home, Bayshore delivered a thrilling win for its fans, defeating Pinellas Park 26-20 in a non-conference matchup. The Bruins showed resilience in the close contest, holding off a late push to secure the victory.
In an all-Bradenton showdown, Braden River edged out Lakewood Ranch 10-7 in a defensive battle. The narrow win gave the Pirates bragging rights and momentum heading into the coming weeks.
Bradenton Christian put on a dominant performance, shutting out Riverview Academy 47-0 on the road. The Panthers controlled the game from start to finish, improving their record with an emphatic victory.
