Manatee County Hosts Civic Forums, Literacy Events, and Music Showcases in Busy Week Ahead
From government meetings to family literacy nights and concerts, Manatee County and its cities are preparing for a packed schedule of events between September 29 and October 6, 2025. Residents will find opportunities to engage with local leaders, celebrate community service, and enjoy a variety of arts and entertainment.
Government and Civic Engagement
County Land Use Hearing – On Monday, September 29, at 3 p.m., the Manatee County Hearing Officer will review a variance request in the Mandarin Grove subdivision during a public meeting at the County Administration Center in Bradenton.
Town Hall with Commissioner Tal Siddique – On Wednesday, October 1, from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m., District 3 Commissioner Tal Siddique will host a town hall at the GT Bray Recreation Center, inviting residents to share their concerns and ideas.
Ribbon Cutting: Under One Roof – Earlier that day, October 1, at 10:30 a.m., Helping Up Mission and partners will celebrate the grand opening of “Under One Roof” at 407 57th Avenue E. in Bradenton with a ribbon-cutting and open house.
Education and Literacy
Soar in 4 Family Night – Also on October 1, from 5:30 to 7 p.m., families are invited to the Bishop Museum of Science and Nature for a free Soar in 4 event. Children will receive literacy resources, meet experienced teachers, and enjoy museum admission. The spotlight book will be Dreaming Up by Christy Hale, with supplies available while they last.
Community and Service
First Responders Breakfast – On Friday, October 3, from 8 to 10 a.m., Bayside Community Church’s Fruitville Campus will host a complimentary breakfast honoring all active and retired first responders.
Crewe of De Soto 26th Annual Charity Golf Tournament – Also on October 3, the Heritage Harbour Golf Club will welcome golfers for the long-running fundraiser. Registration begins at 11 a.m., with a shotgun start at 12:30 p.m. Proceeds will benefit community programs, featuring raffles, auctions, and awards.
Making Moves Against Breast Cancer Fundraiser – That evening, October 3, from 5 to 9 p.m., Men Wear Pink and Sunshine Movers will host a benefit at New College of Florida featuring live music, raffles, and community fundraising for breast cancer research.
Arts and Entertainment
Nu Jazz at MPAC – On Saturday, October 4, Nu Jazz, a Bradenton/Sarasota-based band, will perform at the Manatee Performing Arts Center. Doors open at 6:15 p.m., and the concert begins at 7 p.m. The ensemble blends R&B favorites with a jazz twist, led by Dr. Melvin Price and a group of accomplished musicians.
Oktoberfest 2025 – Saturday, October 4 (11 a.m.–9:30 p.m.) and Sunday, October 5 (11 a.m.–6 p.m.), Palmetto Marriott Resort and Spa. Free entry and parking; event features beer, food, and live music, hosted by Geier’s Sausages.
Ongoing Community Happenings
Oscura in Bradenton continues to feature live music, networking sessions, and creative programming throughout the week, including open mic nights and local artist showcases.
The City of Palmetto and the City of Bradenton maintain calendars of civic and cultural events, with public meetings and neighborhood programs scheduled throughout the week.
