Manatee County Launches Free Water Safety Alarm Initiative to Prevent Child Drownings
Manatee County has launched a new initiative aimed at reducing the number of child drowning incidents by providing free water safety devices to residents.
Through the program, the county has purchased a supply of water safety items, including window, door, and water surface alarms, which are being distributed at no cost to help families create safer home environments. The effort is part of a broader push to raise awareness and prevent tragic accidents involving children and water.
County officials are encouraging residents to take advantage of the program while supplies last, as all items are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Community members will have an opportunity to receive these safety devices in person during an upcoming Health Expo scheduled for April 7, where Manatee County representatives will host a table with alarms ready for distribution.
The initiative highlights the importance of proactive safety measures, particularly in a region where pools, ponds, and other bodies of water are common. By equipping families with simple but effective tools, the county aims to help prevent avoidable tragedies and protect its youngest residents.
