Manatee County Libraries Offer Summer Fun from Fantasy Games to Shark Talks and Sewing Skills
MANATEE COUNTY, Fla. — Local library branches across Manatee County are offering something for everyone this week, with a lineup of hands-on programs, special guests, and creative learning from July 28 through August 2, 2025.
Here’s a breakdown of the week’s activities:
🎲 July 28 – Dungeons & Dragons
Teens can dive into an afternoon of imagination and strategy during a Dungeons & Dragons session at the Braden River Branch Library, from 2 to 4 p.m. Registration is required for this fantasy tabletop experience.
🏴☠️ July 29 – Pirate Parade
Kids are invited to don their pirate gear for the Pirate Parade at Rocky Bluff Branch, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. This high-spirited event brings pirate-themed fun to life—no registration required.
🦈 July 30 – All About Sharks with Mote Marine
The Lakewood Ranch Library welcomes marine educators from Mote Marine Laboratory to teach children about sharks and ocean conservation. This free program runs from 2 to 3 p.m. and is open to the public.
🏛️ July 31 – Bishop Museum Visit
Learn about science, nature, and history when the Bishop Museum of Science and Nature brings their engaging presentation to the Island Branch Library from 10 to 11 a.m. No registration required.
👢 August 1 – Beginning Line Dancing
Dance enthusiasts can take their first steps into line dancing with a class at the South Manatee Branch Library, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Registration is required for this active and social program.
🧵 August 2 – Pins & Needles Sewing
The Central Library will host a full-day Pins & Needles Sewing workshop on Saturday, August 2, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. This class is ideal for beginners or those looking to brush up on their skills and requires registration.
