Manatee County Lifts Countywide Burn Ban Following Weekend Rainfall
Manatee County’s countywide burn ban has been lifted after weekend rainfall reduced wildfire risk across the area.
The burn ban expired at 11:59 p.m. on July 7, allowing outdoor burning to resume in accordance with Florida Forest Service regulations. Depending on the type of activity, a burn permit may still be required.
Activities now permitted include attended outdoor cookers and grills, certain agricultural, silvicultural and land-clearing burns authorized by the Florida Forest Service, properly permitted public fireworks displays, flares discharged over the Gulf, and attended liquefied petroleum gas devices such as grills, camp stoves and fire pits.
County officials noted that changing weather and environmental conditions can still increase the risk of wildfire and encouraged residents to burn responsibly while remaining aware of current conditions.
Residents with questions about whether a specific activity is allowed can contact Manatee County Emergency Management at 941-749-3500 or call 311. Additional information about outdoor burning and burn regulations is available at mymanatee.org/burnban.
