Manatee County Monitors High Tides Linked to Supermoon
Manatee County Public Safety officials are closely monitoring coastal conditions this week as higher-than-normal tides are expected due to the Supermoon, also known as the Beaver Moon.
Tide levels are projected to reach approximately 2.5 feet on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings, with the highest peaks expected near midnight. While major flooding is not anticipated, minor water coverage could occur in low-lying coastal areas, including Anna Maria Island, Longboat Key, Cortez Village, Palmetto, Rubonia, and Terra Ceia Island.
Officials urge residents and visitors to exercise caution when traveling near coastal roads or waterfront areas. Drivers are reminded never to attempt to cross flooded roadways, even when the water appears shallow.
Manatee County’s Public Safety Department will continue to track tide levels throughout the week and provide updates as conditions evolve.
