Manatee County residents looking to conserve water, lower utility costs and maintain healthier landscapes can take advantage of a free irrigation and landscaping evaluation available through the county.
As part of the program, county experts will visit participating homes to evaluate irrigation and landscaping practices and provide recommendations for making yards more water-efficient and Florida-friendly.
The evaluation can help homeowners better understand how their irrigation systems work and how to operate them efficiently. Residents can also learn ways to conserve water and protect local natural resources while keeping lawns, plants and landscaping healthy throughout the year.
Another focus of the program is Florida-Friendly Landscaping, including selecting plants that are appropriate for specific locations and conditions. Choosing the right plants and using efficient irrigation practices can reduce unnecessary water use while helping landscapes thrive in Florida’s climate.
In addition to the free home evaluations, Manatee County offers local classes covering smart landscaping and irrigation practices. Eligible properties may also qualify for rebates designed to encourage water-saving improvements.
The program is part of the county’s efforts to help residents conserve water while maintaining attractive, healthy landscapes.
