Manatee County Opens Applications for Driver Education Funding Program
Manatee County is accepting applications for driver education program funding through the Slosberg Driver’s Education Investment Fund, providing schools with financial support to expand and strengthen driver education opportunities for local students.
The funding opportunity is available to both public and non-public schools serving Manatee County students. The initiative is designed to help schools reduce financial barriers for families while promoting safer roads through quality driver education and behind-the-wheel training programs.
According to program information released by the county, eligible funding may be used for driver education supplies, equipment and vehicles, program expansion opportunities, and other approved driver education needs.
The investment supports classroom driver education courses, behind-the-wheel instruction, and safe and responsible driving education. County officials say the program aims to improve student safety, expand access to driver education opportunities, and help reduce out-of-pocket costs for families.
Schools interested in starting or expanding driver education programs for Manatee County youth are encouraged to apply before the May 27, 2026 deadline.
Applications are available online through the county’s grant portal. Questions regarding the program can be directed to Melissa Bomar at 941-749-4501 ext. 3485.
