Manatee County Opens Public Comment Period for 2026-27 Community Development Action Plan
Manatee County is inviting residents, organizations and community stakeholders to review and provide feedback on its draft Fiscal Year 2026-27 Annual Action Plan, along with proposed substantial amendments to the 2024-25 and 2025-26 Annual Action Plans.
The 30-day public comment period began June 29 and will continue through July 29, 2026. The plans outline how federal housing and community development funding will be used to address local priorities identified in the county’s 2023-2027 Consolidated Plan.
For the 2026-27 fiscal year, the draft plan proposes allocating approximately $1.98 million in Community Development Block Grant funding, more than $623,000 through the HOME Investment Partnerships Program and more than $161,000 in Emergency Solutions Grant funding. The amendments to previous action plans include changes to projects originally approved for shelter rehabilitation and sidewalk expansion.
Copies of the draft plans are available for public review at the Manatee County Community and Veterans Services Department, as well as the Central, South County, Palmetto and Rocky Bluff branches of the Manatee County Public Library System. Information is also available through the county’s website.
Residents may submit comments during the review period by contacting Community Development Project Manager Julia Vieira via email, by phone at 941-748-4501, ext. 1266, or by completing the county’s online survey.
A public hearing on the draft Annual Action Plan, proposed use of funds and proposed budget is scheduled for Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at 9 a.m., or as soon thereafter as the matter can be heard. The hearing will take place in the first-floor chambers of the Manatee County Administration Building, located at 1112 Manatee Ave. W. in Bradenton.
The Board of County Commissioners will consider public input before taking action on the proposed plan. Residents requiring accommodations to participate in the hearing are encouraged to contact Manatee County in advance in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
