Manatee County Public Works crews completed tens of thousands of infrastructure repairs and maintenance projects throughout the county in 2025, ranging from trimming trees and repairing potholes to improving sidewalks, streetlights and roadway signage.
According to Manatee County’s 2025 Public Works By the Numbers report, crews repaired 65,721 sidewalks during the year, representing the largest category of work highlighted in the county’s annual statistics.
Road maintenance was another major focus, with Public Works reporting 12,998 potholes repaired across Manatee County. Crews also trimmed 18,576 trees as part of efforts to maintain vegetation along county roads and other public areas.
The department reported repairing 4,961 signs during 2025. Roadway signage plays an important role in directing traffic and providing motorists, bicyclists and pedestrians with information needed to safely navigate county roads.
Public Works also installed 408 streetlights during the year, adding lighting to transportation corridors and other areas served by the county.
The department is responsible for the administration, planning, engineering, maintenance and construction management of much of Manatee County’s public infrastructure. Its responsibilities include roads, sidewalks, drainage systems, traffic operations and other facilities that residents rely on each day.
The 2025 figures provide a snapshot of the extensive maintenance work taking place throughout Manatee County as crews respond to existing infrastructure needs while supporting a community that continues to experience growth.
