For more than 25 years, Manatee County Search & Rescue has been a vital force in times of crisis, answering the call during hurricanes, missing person searches, and community emergencies. The team is composed entirely of volunteer first responders, including firefighters, EMTs, paramedics, and law enforcement officers, who dedicate their personal time to protect and serve residents.
Unlike most emergency agencies, Manatee County Search & Rescue receives no tax funding. Every rescue vehicle, training session, and mission is made possible through donations from the community. That grassroots support has allowed the organization to remain on the front lines during some of the county’s most challenging moments.
Over the years, contributions have helped purchase life-saving equipment, provide training for new emergency medical personnel, and sustain operations during large-scale emergencies such as hurricanes. Community investment has directly empowered the group to continue its mission of saving lives and supporting residents in their most vulnerable moments.
The organization encourages the public to get involved, whether through donations, volunteering, or simply spreading awareness about their mission. By working together, residents and volunteers ensure Manatee County remains safe, resilient, and prepared for the future.
As Manatee County Search & Rescue reflects on a quarter century of service, it continues to look ahead, relying on the strength of the community to carry its mission forward.
