Manatee County Search and Rescue is giving local dog owners an opportunity to strengthen their relationships with their pets while helping support the nonprofit organization’s search and rescue mission.
Dog Training by MCSAR is a fundraising program offering several training options designed to help owners better understand their dogs, improve behavior, build confidence and provide enrichment. One hundred percent of the proceeds from the program benefit Manatee County Search and Rescue.
Training opportunities include 30-minute evaluations, individualized training, puppy classes, pack walks and scent classes.
The 30-minute evaluation allows owners to meet with a trainer to identify goals for their dog and determine which training options may be appropriate. Individualized classes provide one-on-one instruction with an MCSAR trainer based on the needs and goals of each dog and owner.
Puppy classes are designed to help young dogs develop a strong training foundation. Pack walks provide a group environment where owners and their dogs can practice skills, meet other participants and receive training tips from members of the MCSAR K9 Team.
Scent classes introduce participants to techniques used to teach dogs to identify scents. Owners can participate in scent games and other activities while learning more about their dogs’ natural abilities.
MCSAR is also open to working with dog owners interested in developing other skills beyond the currently listed classes.
Supporting MCSAR’s Mission
Manatee County Search and Rescue is a nonprofit organization staffed entirely by public safety professionals who volunteer their time to provide search and rescue services throughout Manatee County and beyond.
The organization assists when people are missing, communities are affected by disasters or public safety agencies need additional resources. Its volunteers, specialized equipment, vehicles and K9 teams are prepared to respond when called upon.
Because MCSAR operates as a nonprofit, fundraising and community support are essential to maintaining its operations. Funds help provide specialized search and rescue training, maintain vehicles and rescue equipment, purchase new and lifesaving equipment and keep members prepared for future calls.
Community support also helps MCSAR continue providing its services at no cost to the citizens and communities it serves.
The dog training fundraiser provides another way for residents to contribute to that mission while gaining useful training and enrichment opportunities for their pets.
