Manatee County Seeking Members for Health & Human Services Investment Review Committee
Manatee County is seeking qualified residents to serve on a new Health & Human Services Investment Review Committee, an advisory body that will review and score funding applications for programs serving residents.
“The Investment Review Committee reflects our commitment to a funding process that is fair, transparent, and accountable to the residents we serve,” said Amanda Ballard, Manatee County district two commissioner. “I encourage residents with relevant expertise to bring their knowledge to this important work.”
The committee will evaluate adult health and human services funding applications in an advisory capacity to the Board of County Commissioners. Using standardized scoring criteria, members will provide independent, objective reviews intended to align funding recommendations with board-approved priorities and identified community needs.
Designed to strengthen transparency, consistency, and accountability in how the county invests in health and human services, the review process is expected to improve fairness in evaluating applications, support more data-informed decisions, and help identify high-impact programs that effectively serve residents.
The County is seeking residents with professional expertise in one or more of the following areas: philanthropy, finance, housing, healthcare, senior services, public health, and contract management or higher education.
“We’re looking for residents who bring professional expertise and a strong commitment to the community,” said Dr. Renese Remy, criminal justice policy coordinator for Manatee County Community and Veterans Services. “Their independent review will help ensure funding recommendations are thoughtful, fiscally responsible, and focused on programs that provide the greatest benefit to Manatee County residents.”
