Manatee County Sheriff Rick Wells to Be Honored with Good Scout Award at March Breakfast
Manatee County Sheriff Rick Wells will be honored with the Distinguished Citizen Good Scout Award during the 13th annual Million Dollar Breakfast hosted by Scouting America, Southwest Florida Council.
The event is scheduled for Thursday, March 12, 2026, at 8 a.m. at the Manatee Performing Arts Center in Bradenton. The annual breakfast recognizes individuals who have demonstrated outstanding service to their community while upholding Scouting's values.
Sheriff Wells is being recognized for his longstanding commitment to youth and families in Manatee County. According to event organizers, Wells consistently supports initiatives that benefit young people, dedicating not only his time but also mobilizing resources to strengthen programs that promote leadership, character development and service. His efforts have contributed to expanding Scouting's reach and impact throughout the county.
In addition to honoring community leaders, the Million Dollar Breakfast serves as a major fundraising and awareness event for Scouting America’s local programs. Organizers expect more than 500 business and civic leaders to attend across multiple locations in Southwest Florida. Attendees are invited to learn about the positive impact of Scouting’s values-based programs and to pledge financial support to help sustain and grow youth development opportunities.
Funds raised through the event support Scouting programs in Manatee County, including activities and experiences offered at Camp Flying Eagle. Organizers note that the council has served the region for more than a century and continues to provide life-changing programs for local youth.
The event is free to attend, though reservations are required. Registration is available online through the Scouting America Southwest Florida Council. For additional information, attendees may contact the event chairman, Mike Bear, or the district executive, Seth Mininsohn.
