Manatee County Sheriff’s Office Spring Plant Sale Returns with Affordable Blooms and Community Impact
The Manatee County Sheriff’s Office is welcoming the community to its 2026 Spring Plant Sale kickoff on Saturday, March 28, offering a wide selection of plants while supporting a meaningful rehabilitation program.
The event will take place from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Manatee County Jail Farm, located at 14470 Harlee Road in Palmetto. Shoppers can browse a variety of plants and flowers grown by inmates participating in the Leading Inmates to Future Employment (LIFE) Program, an initiative designed to provide job skills and opportunities for successful reentry. Proceeds from the sale directly benefit the program.
Visitors will find budget-friendly options, including one-gallon plants priced at $2 and three-gallon plants and hanging baskets available for $5. Specialty plants and roses will range from $5 to $20. Accepted forms of payment include credit or debit cards and checks, with no cash accepted.
The sale features a diverse selection of plants, including vinca, gerbera daisies, geraniums, Mexican heather, mandevilla, crotons, ficus varieties, areca palms, hibiscus, agave, succulents, and a variety of hanging baskets such as million bells, ferns, and wandering jew.
Due to growing demand, the Sheriff’s Office added the Saturday kickoff event to mark the start of the season. Community members who are unable to attend on March 28 can still purchase plants Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., with a brief closure from 11 to 11:30 a.m. for lunch, while supplies last.
The annual plant sale continues to serve as both a popular community event and a way to support workforce development through the LIFE Program, combining affordability, sustainability, and second chances.
