Manatee County to Host Virtual Local Mitigation Strategy Meeting March 19
Manatee County’s Local Mitigation Strategy Working Group will hold a public meeting on Thursday, March 19, at 2 p.m., inviting residents to take part in shaping the county’s long-term disaster preparedness plan.
The Local Mitigation Strategy, commonly known as the LMS, serves as Manatee County’s comprehensive plan to reduce risks from natural hazards such as flooding, severe weather, and other disasters. The plan is updated every 5 years to identify local risks, assess community vulnerabilities, and establish short- and long-term goals to strengthen public safety and resilience.
The March 19 meeting is part of that required update process. County officials are seeking community input to help ensure the plan reflects current conditions, emerging risks, and local priorities.
Residents can join the meeting virtually via Microsoft Teams. A direct link to the meeting is available at https://teams.microsoft.com/meet/2649787312847.
Additional information about the Local Mitigation Strategy, including the meeting agenda and background materials, is available at mymanatee.org/hazard.
County leaders encourage residents, business owners, and community stakeholders to participate in the discussion as Manatee County continues working to reduce hazards and better protect the community.
