Manatee County to Launch New “Big Bin” Trash Collection System October 6
Significant changes are coming to garbage service for residents of unincorporated Manatee County starting October 6. To reduce costs, increase efficiency, and improve neighborhood cleanliness, the county is introducing a new automated trash collection system under its “Big Bin Advantage” program.
The updated system will feature one 96-gallon rolling bin per household, eliminating the need for multiple loose bags or smaller containers. These new bins are designed for ease of use and greater capacity, reducing overflow and unsightly curbside clutter.
Automated trucks will now handle garbage pickup, a move that enhances worker safety, reduces the number of trucks on the road, and ensures more consistent service with fewer missed pickups.
Under the new plan, all household waste—including garbage, recycling, and yard waste—will be collected on a single day each week, simplifying the schedule for residents.
By consolidating services and implementing cleaner, safer collection methods, the county aims to enhance quality of life while keeping costs down for customers.
