Manatee County Urges Drivers to Use Caution at Roundabouts
Manatee County Government is reminding motorists to slow down, stay alert and follow proper driving practices when approaching and traveling through roundabouts as the county continues efforts to improve traffic flow and roadway safety.
In a recent public awareness campaign, county officials highlighted several key rules for navigating roundabouts safely. Drivers are encouraged to reduce their speed to between 10 and 15 miles per hour when approaching a roundabout and select the appropriate lane before entering based on their intended exit.
Officials also emphasized the importance of yielding to pedestrians at crosswalks and to vehicles already circulating within the roundabout. Once inside the roundabout, drivers should continue moving and avoid stopping unless necessary to prevent a collision.
The county’s safety message also reminds motorists to remain vigilant for pedestrians and bicyclists, who may be crossing near roundabout entrances and exits.
