Manatee Habitat Selected for Lowe’s Hometowns Project, Awarded $90,000 for Storm-Safe Home Repairs
Manatee County Habitat for Humanity has been chosen as one of this year’s Lowe’s Hometowns projects, receiving a $90,000 grant to strengthen its Storm Safe Home Renewal Program. The initiative will provide critical home repairs and upgrades that improve storm resilience for low-income homeowners across the county.
Lowe’s Hometowns is a five-year, $100 million effort supporting 100 community-nominated projects each year to revitalize neighborhoods and community spaces nationwide. The grant awarded to Manatee Habitat will be used for essential repairs, including roof replacements, hurricane-impact windows, reinforced doors, plumbing and air conditioning repairs, and electrical upgrades.
For many families in Manatee County, these improvements mean more than just safer homes; they represent stability and peace of mind as hurricane seasons become increasingly intense. The program particularly helps seniors and families who might otherwise be unable to afford the upgrades needed to protect their homes.
The award continues Lowe’s ongoing partnership with Manatee Habitat. Over the past few months, the home improvement retailer’s investment in the nonprofit has grown to $115,000, alongside material donations, sponsorships, and volunteer support. Earlier this year, Lowe’s also funded the Advancing Black Homeownership build, with local store associates volunteering on construction sites.
Lowe’s employees will return later this year for another volunteer day, working side by side with Habitat crews on a project supported by the new funding. Through this collaboration, Manatee Habitat will expand its ability to serve vulnerable homeowners, ensuring more families in the community can live in safe, resilient homes for years to come.
