Manatee High School custodian Lucas Dechelbor brought home gold and silver medals after competing in the Special Olympics Florida West Coast Region swim meet.
Dechelbor, a familiar face on the Manatee High campus, is known by students and staff for his positive attitude, dedication and enthusiasm. He carried that determination into the pool, earning two medals during the regional competition.
Several Manatee High alumni were also on hand to support Dechelbor and celebrate his accomplishments.
Dechelbor will next travel to Ocala this weekend to compete in the Special Olympics State Swimming Competition, representing his community and Hurricane pride at the statewide event.
