Manatee Performing Arts Center will hold auditions Sunday, Sept. 20, and Monday, Sept. 21, for four productions scheduled for early 2027.
Auditions begin at 7 p.m. both nights at the performing arts center, 502 Third Avenue West in downtown Bradenton. Actors will audition in the order they arrive.
The upcoming productions include The Da Vinci Code, scheduled for Jan. 14-24; Come From Away, Jan. 21-31; Alice by Heart, Feb. 18-28; and Appropriate, March 4-14.
Come From Away is an uplifting musical inspired by the true story of thousands of airline passengers stranded in Newfoundland following the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. The Da Vinci Code brings the bestselling mystery novel to the stage with a story involving murder, secrets and historical intrigue.
Set during World War II, Alice by Heart follows a young woman who finds refuge in the imaginative world of Alice in Wonderland while confronting love, loss and growing up. Appropriate is a dark family drama centered on siblings who return to their childhood home and uncover long-buried secrets about their family’s past.
Those auditioning should prepare a song in their key and be ready to participate in a movement portion if requested by the director. Anyone selected for a callback will be notified that evening, although performers who do not receive a callback may still be considered for a role.
Roles are unpaid volunteer positions. Audition participants must be at least 13 years old to be considered for an adult role.
The performing arts center advises prospective cast members that participating in a production requires a significant commitment to rehearsals and performances.
