The School District of Manatee County is seeking local business and industry professionals to serve on High School Advisory Councils supporting students enrolled in Career and Technical Education programs.
The councils are designed to strengthen connections between local employers, educators and students while helping ensure CTE programs reflect the skills and knowledge needed in today’s workplace.
Volunteers are being sought from a wide range of industries, including construction, cybersecurity, engineering, agriculture, commercial art and digital photography, television production, accounting, business and marketing, culinary arts, health and medical fields, early childhood education, automotive and advanced manufacturing.
Advisory council members will meet with educators twice a year and learn about the hands-on, career-focused instruction taking place in Manatee County high schools. Industry professionals will have an opportunity to share their expertise and provide input that can help prepare students for employment, technical training and other opportunities after graduation.
The advisory councils also provide a way for local businesses to become more directly involved in developing the future workforce and strengthening connections between classrooms and the industries students may eventually enter.
