Manatee Sheriff’s Office Raids Alleged Illegal Gambling Operation in Bradenton, Seizes More Than $23,000
The Manatee County Sheriff’s Office shut down an alleged illegal gambling operation at a Bradenton storefront after a weeks-long investigation, resulting in the seizure of more than $23,000 in cash, dozens of gambling machines and computer equipment.
Detectives with the agency’s Tactical Unit executed a search warrant on July 17 at a business in the 4300 block of 26th Street West. Investigators determined the storefront, described as an arcade, was allegedly operating as an illegal gambling establishment.
During the operation, detectives arrested 21-year-old Keylin Reyes Escobar. According to the sheriff’s office, Reyes Escobar attempted to flee through a rear door as detectives entered the business but was apprehended a short distance away.
She faces charges of obstruction and serving as an agent or employee of a house for gambling.
Investigators seized $23,669.22 in cash, 34 gambling machines and 89 computer towers containing gambling software programs.
According to the sheriff’s office, this is the second time deputies have shut down an alleged illegal gambling operation at the same location. The investigation remains ongoing.
