Marauders End Road Losing Streak Behind Rembert’s Strong Showing
Jauregui triples in two runs, Mathiesen continues scoreless streak
The Bradenton Marauders (16-26, 47-60) ended a nine-game road losing streak behind Chris Rembert’s 2-for-4 performance during a 6-3 win against the Lakeland Flying Tigers (18-23, 49-57) on Tuesday from Publix Field. Cristian Jauregui drove in two runs with a triple, while Dylan Mathiesen tossed his third straight scoreless outing from the bullpen.
Bradenton began the scoring in the top of the first off Lakeland starter Caleb Leys. Rembert doubled, moved to third on a single by Nick Cimillo, and scored on a fielder’s choice from Eddie King Jr. to make it 1-0.
In the top of the thid, Canon Reeder singled and stole second to put a runner in scoring postion. A base hit by Rembert plated Reeder, putting the Marauders up 2-0.
After Lakeland scored a run in the bottom of the third, Bradenton answered back with two runs in the top of the sixth. Richard Ramirez, Brent Iredale, and Jauregui all worked walks to load the bases. Bralyn Brazoban singled, allowing Ramirez and Iredale to score.
In the top of the eighth, Ramirez doubled and Iredale was hit by a pitch to put runners on second and first. A triple from Jauregui scored Ramirez and Iredale to make it a 6-1 ballgame.
Despite two runs from the Flying Tigers in the bottom of the eighth, Victor Trejo closed it down in the ninth to finalize a 6-3 win for the Marauders.
Bradenton and Lakeland play game two of a six-game series on Wednesday with first pitch set for 6:30 p.m.
