Marauders Fall to Blue Jays 9-6 Despite 10-Hit Night
Luke Scherrer and Josh Tate etched two-hit nights, Jauregui drives in two runs
The Bradenton Marauders (16-14) fell to the Dunedin Blue Jays (12-18) despite a 10-hit performance on Thursday from TD Ballpark. Luke Scherrer and Josh Tate each etched two-hit nights, while Cristian Jauregui drove in two runs.
After Dunedin scored four in the bottom of the first against Bradenton starter Zander Mueth, the Marauders plated their first run of the game in the top of the third off Blue Jays starter Brandon Barriera. Eddie Rynders singled and came around to score on a double by Jhostynxon Garcia to make it a 4-1 ballgame.
Down 8-2 in the top of the seventh, the Marauders offense rallied to plate four runs in the top of the seventh. Carlos Caro walked, Tate singled, and Garcia walked to load the bases. A wild pitch from Dunedin reliever Mason Davenport allowed Caro to score and make it 8-3. After Gray worked a walk to load the bases, Jauregui drove in two runs on a single to move the score 8-5. Gray was plated from second on a base hit by Scherrer to make it an 8-6 ballgame.
The Blue Jays plated a run in the bottom of the seventh and kept the Marauders scoreless the rest of the way to finalize a 9-6 win for Dunedin.
Franly Urena (1-0) earned the win, letting up two hits and notching a strikeout over 2.0 scoreless innings. Mueth (0-1) took the loss, allowing four runs (three earned) on three hits, three walks, and a strikeout over 0.2 frames. Lluveres Severino (1) collected the save, letting up three hits with three strikeouts over 2.2 scoreless innings.
