The Bradenton Marauders (22-35, 53-69) secured a 4-1 rain-shortened win against the Lakeland Flying Tigers (30-28, 61-62) on Tuesday from LECOM Park. Antonio Pimentel collected two hits with an RBI, while Yonleg Gaetano earned four strikeouts over 4.1 frames.
Bradenton began the scoring in the bottom of the second off Lakeland starter Caleb Leys. Brent Iredale reached on a fielding error and stole second to put a runner in scoring position. Carl Calixte reached base on a throwing error, allowing Iredale to score and make it 1-0.
After a homer from Jude Warwick in the top of the third, the Marauders answered back versus Leys in the bottom half of the inning. Cristian Jauregui and Chris Rembert worked back-to-back walks, while Pimentel singled to load the bases. Tre Phelps notched a sacrifice fly to score Jauregui and make it a 2-1 ballgame. Iredale walked and Luke Scherrer reached first on a fielder’s choice to plate Rembert, putting Bradenton up 3-1.
In the bottom of the fourth, Calixte doubled and moved to third on a wild pitch. A single from Pimentel scored Calixte and made it 4-1.
Going into the top of the seventh, rain began to fall, and the game entered a 32-minute rain delay. The contest was eventually called official due to inclement weather, securing a 4-1 win for the Marauders.
Inmer Lobo (1-0) collected the win, striking out three over 1.2 scoreless innings. Leys (0-6) took the loss, letting up three runs (two earned) on a hit, three walks, and four strikeouts over 2.2 frames.
