Marauders Swept by Tarpons Despite Solo Homer from Ramirez
Iredale reaches base three times, Ramirez collects four strikeouts in second start
Despite a solo homer from Richard Ramirez, the Bradenton Marauders (10-13, 41-47) were swept by the Tampa Tarpons (18-6, 53-37) behind a 7-2 loss on Sunday from George M. Steinbrenner Field. Brent Iredale reached base four times, while Irwin Ramirez collected four strikeouts over 4.0 innings.
In the bottom of the first, Tampa began the scoring off Ramirez. Hans Montero singled, stole second, and reached third on a balk to put a runner in scoring position. A groundout from Luis Puello allowed Montero to score and make it a 1-0 ballgame.
Ramirez blasted a solo homer in the top of the second off Tarpons starter Sabier Marte, tying the game 1-1.
Tampa earned two runs in the bottom of the fifth behind a homer by Ediel Rivera and RBI single from Willy Montero.
Jackson Lovich connected for a three-run homer in the bottom of the sixth, putting the Tarpons up 6-2.
The Tarpons plated another run in the bottom of the seventh and kept the Marauders scoreless the rest of the way to finalize a 7-2 win for Tampa.
Josh Tiedemann (1-2) secured the win, tossing a perfect 0.1 frames. Ramirez (0-2) took the loss, letting up three runs on seven hits, two walks, and four strikeouts over 4.1 innings.
The Marauders take the day off on Monday before returning to LECOM Park for a six-game series against the Dunedin Blue Jays. First pitch on Tuesday is set for 5:30 p.m.
