The Bradenton Marauders (20-31, 51-65) tied a season-high in runs with a 14-5 win over the Jupiter Hammerheads (22-29, 59-58) on Friday from LECOM Park. Brent Iredale, Jack Scanlon, and Luke Scherrer each launched homers, while Bryson Moore earned four strikeouts over 2.0 innings during his professional debut.
Bradenton began the scoring in the bottom of the first off Jupiter starter Elier Morillo. Tre Phelps walked and stole second to put a runner in scoring position. After swiping third, Phelps was plated on a sacrifice fly from Eddie King Jr. to make it 1-0.
After the Hammerheads took a 3-1 lead in the top of the fifth, the Marauders answered back in the bottom half of the inning. Scanlon led off with a homer, cutting the deficit 3-2. Phelps singled and moved to third on a fielder’s choice by Antonio Pimentel. With runners on the corners, Pimentel moved to second and Phelps scored on a wild pitch, tying the game 3-3. King Jr. walked and Iredale smashed a three-run homer, putting Bradenton up 6-3.
In the bottom of the sixth, Scherrer led off with a solo homer. Cristian Jauregui reached on a fielder’s choice, Kendrick Herrera was hit by a pitch, and Phelps singled to load the bases. Pimentel walked and King Jr. was hit by a pitch, scoring two runs to make it a 9-3 ballgame.
The Marauders scored five more runs the rest of the way, highlighted by RBI singles from Jauregui and Herrera.
Despite Jupiter earning two runs combined in the seventh and eighth innings, Bradenton reliever Victor Trejo locked down the ninth to finalize a 14-5 win for Bradenton.
The Marauders and Hammerheads play the penultimate of a six-game series on Saturday with first pitch set for 6:30 p.m.
