Marauders Victorious in Game One with Game Two Suspended to Sunday
Horwitz homers in rehab assignment, Rivas secures two-hit performance
The Bradenton Marauders (11-16, 42-50) earned a 7-5 victory against the Dunedin Blue Jays (14-13, 44-48) in game one of a doubleheader, with game two suspended to Sunday. Spencer Horwitz homered during his third rehab game in Bradenton, while Javier Rivas secured a two-hit performance in his rehab game.
In game one, the Blue Jays put up two runs in the top of the first, but the Marauders answered back in the bottom half of the inning. Horwitz, Omar Alfonzo, and Eddie King Jr. all worked walks to load the bases. A sacrifice fly to center by Richard Ramirez plated Horwitz to make it a 2-1 ballgame.
In the bottom of the fifth, Horwitz led off with a solo homer to tie the game 2-2. Rivas singled, Alfonzo doubled, and King Jr. walked to load the bases. Ramirez singled to left, plating Rivas to make it 3-2. With the bases loaded, Antonio Pimentel doubled to clear the bases and put Bradenton up 7-5.
Dunedin scratched across three runs in the top of the seventh, but Noah Takacs closed it down to finalize a 7-5 win for Bradenton.
In game two, the Marauders began the scoring in the bottom of the first. King Jr. and Edgleen Perez worked back-to-back walks to put runners on first and second. After King Jr. moved to third on a groundout, he scored on a single by Bralyn Brazoban to make it 1-0.
The Blue Jays plated a run in the top of the third, but the game was suspended in the top of the sixth and will be finished on Sunday.
After the completion of the suspended game, the Marauders and Blue Jays will play the finale of the six-game series.
