Martinez Tosses Season-High Six Innings, Marauders Drop Series Finale 9-2
De Los Santos drives in two runs, Bradenton splits series with Fort Myers
Jeter Martinez tossed a season-high 6.0 innings during a 9-2 loss for the Bradenton Marauders (21-18) against the Fort Myers Mighty Mussels (22-17) on Sunday from LECOM Park. Johan De Los Santos drove in two runs, and Bradenton split the six-game series with Fort Myers
After Fort Myers scored the first run of the game in the top of the third off Martinez, Bradenton bounced back with a run in the bottom half of the inning. Richard Ramirez singled and Cristian Jauregui doubled to put runners on third and second. A base hit by De Los Santos plated Ramirez to make it a 1-1 ballgame.
In the bottom of the fifth, Dylan Palmer tripled and scored on a sacrifice fly from De Los Santos, putting the Marauders up 2-1.
After an hour and 48 minute rain delay, Fort Myers went on to score eight runs in the top of the ninth to take a 9-2 lead. Bradenton went scoreless the rest of the way to finalize a 9-2 win for the Mighty Mussels.
Xavier Kolhosser (2-0) picked up the win, letting up a hit, three walks, and striking out three over 3.0 scoreless innings. Noah Takacs (1-4) took the loss, allowing six runs on four hits and three walks over 0.1 frames.
Bradenton takes the day off on Monday before beginning a six-game series against the Lakeland Flying Tigers on Tuesday from Publix Field at Joker Merchant Stadium. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m.
