Matterhorn Fit, an advanced rehabilitation and performance company known for working with professional and Olympic athletes, has officially opened its newest location in Lakewood Ranch.
Located at 8250 Vicela Drive, Unit 2, Sarasota, FL 34240, Matterhorn Fit Lakewood Ranch brings the company’s integrated approach to pain relief, rehabilitation, injury prevention, and performance to one of the fastest-growing communities in Southwest Florida.
The Lakewood Ranch location is locally owned and operated by Jack Emmett, a former collegiate hockey player and two-time captain of the Florida Gulf Coast University Men’s Ice Hockey Team. Emmett has been part of the Matterhorn Fit organization since 2022, working alongside the company’s leadership and serving clients at multiple Southwest Florida locations before opening the Lakewood Ranch facility.
“I’ve seen firsthand how much of a difference the Matterhorn Method can make for people, from professional athletes to active adults and seniors,” said Emmett. “Lakewood Ranch is such an active community, and I wanted to bring a different approach to rehabilitation and training to the area. Our goal is to help people stay active, recover from injuries, build strength, and continue doing the things they love.”
From Professional Hockey to a New Approach to Pain and Performance
Matterhorn Fit was founded in 2018 by Ryan Vesce and Sean Sullivan, whose backgrounds in professional sports helped shape the company’s approach.
Vesce, a former professional hockey player, experienced significant back and hip problems that threatened to end his playing career. Working with professional athlete strength coach Sean Sullivan, the two spent years developing and refining a systematic approach that combined neurological rehabilitation with movement and performance training.
The process became the foundation for what is now known as the Matterhorn Method.
After Vesce was able to extend his playing career, the pair began applying the system with professional athletes and eventually expanded it to active adults and everyday individuals dealing with pain, injury, and movement limitations.
Today, Matterhorn Fit works with professional athletes, Olympians, youth athletes, active adults, and seniors. The company describes its philosophy as “Trusted by the Pros, Built for Everyone.” Previously published Matterhorn materials have highlighted work with more than 100 professional athletes, 14 Olympians, and thousands of individuals throughout Southwest Florida.
“Ryan and Sean built Matterhorn around a simple idea: people shouldn’t have to choose between getting out of pain and getting stronger,” said Emmett. “The rehabilitation and performance sides work together, which allows us to help people not only address what is bothering them, but also build the strength, control, and confidence to keep doing what they enjoy.”
Rehabilitation Meets Performance
Unlike a traditional gym, Matterhorn Fit combines advanced rehabilitation techniques with functional strength and movement training under one roof.
Clients begin with an initial evaluation designed to identify the root cause of their pain or movement limitations rather than simply treating the symptoms. From there, the Matterhorn team uses a focused six-session rehabilitation program over a two-week period to help rebuild neurological pathways, restore proper movement, and address the underlying problem. According to Matterhorn’s client results, 94% of clients have experienced major pain reduction within just two weeks, before transitioning into individualized strength and performance training based on their goals.
The facility serves a wide range of clients, including professional and youth athletes, golfers, tennis and pickleball players, active adults, and seniors.
